Who we are

The RegTech Association of Hong Kong is an independent, not-for-profit association founded by a community of RegTech startups and partners in 2019.

What we do

The main goal of the Association is to promote RegTech in Hong Kong and beyond. This is an association of its members, by its members and for its members.

Our mission statement

The RegTech Association of Hong Kong exists for three main reasons:

Promote RegTech startups and the unique proposition of each in transforming Governance, Risk management and Compliance.

 
 

Support

 

Support RegTech business matching to enable regulated entities to fast-track identification and adoption of RegTech startup solutions.

 
 

Facilitate

 

Facilitate discussion, workshop and publication among stakeholders to form insights on technology development, application and integration with future regulations.

Jenny Chow

Chairperson

Jenny Chow is a seasoned practitioner with more than 25 years of experience in securities law and compliance. She has formerly served as a member of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Ordinance drafting team, C-suite executive of multiple investment banks, as well as the Chief Compliance Officer on SDG Development with the United Nations Development Program of UNSIF (United Nations SDG Innovative Finance).

She is also a serial entrepreneur and now with the focus on her Web 3.0 Fintech startup, which has multiple projects recognized and supported by Cyberport and HKTech300 of City University of Hong Kong.

Lawrence Yeung

Honorary Treasurer

Lawrence Yeung has extensive banking experiences managing systems solutions, business analytic, operational planning, ORM and, AML/CFT compliance. In 2019, he joined Earth Channel Limited as Compliance and Operations Advisor.

Felix Cheung

Founding Chairperson

Felix is a Hong Kong-based Regtech entrepreneur. His expertise includes how to use technology to transform GRC business processes and internal controls to meet regulatory, contractual and industry requirements and expectations.

David Liu

Board Director

David Liu is the founding advisor for Moment Fintech, Asia’s first ESG-focused fintech and regtech accelerator and venture builder. In addition to fintech and regtech companies, David also works extensively with financial institutions, corporations, and exchanges across the region to manage a wide array of ESG, regulatory, and compliance risks along with navigating the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape surrounding blockchain and cryptocurrencies.

Simon Leung

Board Director

Simon Leung is a seasoned AML/CFT Compliance officer, who has over 30 years of AML/CFT experience that was attained from the police, Financial Intelligence Unit and banking industry. He is now running a start up with focus on AML/CFT system development and also a well-recognized trainer in the AML/CFT field.

Alex Oxford

Board Director

Alex currently leads RegTech/SupTech firm AML Analytics operations in the Asia-Pacific region focusing on testing, validation and optimisation of AML/CTF detection and screening technologies for leading regulated entities and supervisory authorities. Prior to joining AML Analytics in early 2019, Alex led the encompass corporation, a specialist KYC automation RegTech, sales function in Asia and had various business development roles covering the Asia-Pacific region based out of Hong Kong for multinational RegTech firm, LexisNexis. Alex has held key Non-Executive roles at the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and helped advise Australian RegTech, identity management firm, RapidID who successfully exited in 2017. Alex has earnt a Masters in Science from University College of Dublin, Bachelor of Business from Swinburne University and various AML compliance and governance accreditations from ICA, ACAMS & AICD.

Benjamin Petit

Board Director

Senior international business development and finance professional with 16 years’ experience across disciplines (Business Development, Strategy, Finance management, M&A, Contract Management and Structured Finance) and across Europe and Asia. After having co-founded a boutique M&A in Paris supporting SMEs and start-ups, Benjamin came to Asia and gained 15-year experience business development, M&A, and finance, leading financial teams and driving revenue growth across Asia for MNCs. Prior co-founded Chekk Benjamin was CFO of an MNC in Asia and Board of Director of various entities.

Committees

The value of the Association is generated through the work and activities of our 9 Committees.

 

Membership Committee

The membership committee deals with onboarding new members of the association. The committee is currently working on selecting the most suitable startups to grow our like-minded community.

Communication Committee

The communications committee deals with internal and external communication of the association to support, promote and facilitate the understanding of regulatory technology to all stakeholders.

Education Committee

The education committee deals with the organisation of teaching programs in coordination with universities and academic members to increase the knowledge of the stakeholders.

Partnership Committee

The partnership committee deals with onboarding of corporate partners and institutions who are not members but can support the members, fund them and carry the association into a sustainable future.

Investment Committee

The investment committee deals with evaluating investment proposals and negotiating the terms in order to allow new board members who can support the association in the long term.

Research Committee

The research committee deals with the organisation of intelligent legal research and smart ways of sourcing content and data relevant to regulations in tandem with global data bases and media outlets.

Events Committee

The events committee deals with creating an agenda of events to promote regulatory technology companies, and selecting events in the ongoing agenda of institutions and regulators in Hong Kong.

Funding Committee

The funding committee deals with the organisation of funding programs that can facilitate the adoption of RegTech and accelerate the fund-raising of the member startups in tandem with the partners.

Overseas Affairs Committee

The overseas affairs committee deals with creating and maintaining international relationships with similar associations, organisations, lobbyists and other government bodies.
