RegTech Association of Hong Kong is a proud Supporting Organisation of this event.

This year, the RTAHK decided to participate in the Singapore FinTech Festival as a Supporting Organization for the first time. This year’s theme was “People and Talent”, as they will be critical to addressing the five global challenges, including recovering from the pandemic; creating the infrastructure for a digital economy; enhancing inclusion and sustainability; restoring investors’ confidence; and building skills for the future.

The festival was a truly global event where sessions were conducted around the clock with rotating spotlights on Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East & Africa as well as the Americas. In particular, there were 14 Leaders Series in which prestigious speakers, including Prime Ministers and CEOs, shared their insights on tackling global challenges.

Even though RegTech was not the key focus of the festival, it is still worth paying attention to the sessions related to the regulatory regime in the new normal. For example Guo Shuqing, the Chairman of China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission, has talked about China’s experiences and challenges in developing and supervising FinTech. There was also a panel discussion on whether or not AI in financial services should be regulated.

The event ended successfully, attracting 60,000 participants from over 160 countries, and with more than 3.5 million session views on the online event platform and social media. The RTAHK is looking forward to joining the event again in the coming year.
